Project Manager, ANZICS House Ph: +61 3 9340 3400 |
Welcome ....The ANZICS Database Initiatives currently include the Paediatric Database, the Adult Patient Database and the ANZICS Research Centre for Critical Care Resources (formerly known as the Registry). These activities are overseen by the ANZICS Database Management Committee (ADMC) and together represent a major initiative in quality assurance within the Australian and New Zealand intensive care communities.
The ANZPIC Database is tendering for the production of automated reports which will enhance the scope of reports available to paediatric units. The plan in 1993 for creation of a bi-national database was clearly forward thinking and the Society is indebted to Rob Herkes and David McWilliam. Their contribution through coordination of the central database, authorship of the original ICON software and introduction of the current AORTIC product has been enormous. However, the database project has now grown beyond the scope of volunteer labour and part-time management, and with the support of Federal and State funding has been relocated to ANZICS House and a full-time project manager appointed. To provide greater flexibility, local data analysis and report generation an add-on to the AORTIC program (A2A) has been introduced and can be doanloaded from this website. An automated export/import routine between the AORTIC database and the centralised collection should improve the turnaround time for central reports. This will be discussed at the ASM. A Newsletter has been inroduced with the aim of keeping contributing units up-to-date and informed about significant events. Current Issue Contents: Graeme Hart |
