ANZICS Research Centre for Critical Care ResourcesThe ANZICS Research Centre for Critical Care Resources (ARCCCR), formerly known as the ANZICS ICU Registry, researches critical care resource dimensions in Australian and New Zealand health care institutions. The ARCCCR reports to the ANZICS Database Management Committee and is affiliated with the ANZICS Adult Patient Database (APD) and the Australian and New Zealand Paediatric Intensive Care Registry (ANZPIC). These three entities research the availability and utilisation of critical care resources, patient outcomes, mortality, disease patterns and the effectiveness of critical care interventions. The research focus of the ARCCCR is directed to: Resource Issues; Critical Care Workforce; Demographic Aspects; Quality Activities; Processes of Care; International Trends & Comparators. The ARCCCR aims to provide reliable information to clinicians, policy makers, health care providers and state and federal governments to improve critical care services. Funding & SupportThe ARCCCR is funded bi-nationally through grants from State and Territory health departments under the auspices of the Australian Health Ministers Advisory Council and through the Ministry of Health (NZ). ANZICS Critical Care Resource SurveyThe ARCCCR resource survey is conducted annually (download form, instruction guide and Aortic instruction guide) and targets more than 200 adult and paediatric critical care complexes in Australia and New Zealand. The ARCCCR investigates the provision, distribution and utilisation of critical care resources. The survey captures data on the locations, types and levels of ICUs; maps physical resources such as beds and ventilators; enumerates admissions, readmissions, bed days and ventilator days; and, estimates medical and nursing FTE. Reports are provided to contributing hospitals, departments of health, national and state libraries, professional societies and associations. Accessing InformationThe ARCCCR provides assistance for ANZICS members, clinicians and researchers to access information held on the database for approved purposes upon request.
