Authorship Guidelines

The board of the Australian & New Zealand Care Society has established the ANZICS Database Management Committee to coordinate the activities of the Society to promote the understanding of the care of critically ill throughout Australia and New Zealand. The committee has overview of the Society's efforts in the epidemiology of critically ill patients, and the resources to serve those patients. The Committee acts on behalf of the membership of the Society who provides the vast bulk of the available data voluntarily.

Terms of Reference

1. To provide management and financial oversight of the activities of the following activities approved by the Board.

    a. ANZICS Patient Database
    b. Australian and New Zealand Paediatric Intensive Care Database
    c. ANZICS Research Centre for Critical Care Resources
    d. And any other area the Board may direct in future.

2. To liaise with the intensive care community through regular reports and discussions with the society's membership on the appropriate goals of data acquisition.

3. To promote research activities directed at greater understanding of critical illness, its management and outcome.

4. To ensure the society's activities above act in collaboration and with other areas established by the society in order to promote the efficient use of personnel, facilities and research expertise.

5. To enter negotiations with relevant governmental and non-governmental bodies to further the aims of the committee provided that any negotiations are subject to the agreement of the ANZICS Board.

6. To operate according to the direction of the ANZICS Board.

7. To report to the ANZICS Board and submit reports on activity and intended publications and financial statements on a regular basis.
