Critical Care Resource (CCR) Survey

The CCR survey investigates the provision, distribution and utilisation of critical care resources.  The survey captures data on the locations, types and levels of ICUs; maps physical resources such as beds and ventilators; enumerates admissions, readmissions, bed days and ventilator days; and, estimates medical and nursing FTE.  Annual reports are provided to contributing hospitals, departments of health, national and state libraries, professional societies and associations.  Previous versions of the CCR Report are available on the CORE Reports page of this website.  If you would like to purchase a copy of the most recent CCR report, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The CCR survey is conducted annually and targets more than 180 adult and paediatric critical care complexes in Australia and New Zealand.  The most recent survey run, which examined the 2007/08 financial year, is in the final stages of production and will be publicly released early 2010.  The 2007/08 survey a participation rate of 95.7%, which was comprised of 153 Australian ICUs and 27 New Zealand ICUs, a total of 180 out of a potential 188 units.

Influenza Pandemic Planning

 

The CCR in involved in Influenza A pandemic planning.  Due to its unique position of a long history of bi-national data collection, its an enhanced position to examine the effects of influenza A effects on the ICU.  The surveys were run in a multipart way, with firstly the unit being assessed pre-pandemic on surge capacity, environment and policy, and the second component relating to admission in June, July and August 2009.


Survey submission has now closed.  Your support and time is greatly appreciated. Dissemination of results is currently underway.
