Hospitals across Australia and New Zealand will take part in the study. The SMS/email invitations will retrieve personal contact information from the study hospital where the patient is admitted. Contact information will remain secure at the health service and will not be disclosed to third parties.
Adult patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, are invited to complete a Health Outcome Survey soon after hospital discharge. The survey will be sent out three months from the date of the ICU admission.
A patient’s nominated contact person (usually a family member or carer) will also be invited to complete an ICU Experience Survey once the patient is discharged from the ICU. Responses to this survey should be confined to experience in the ICU only and should not include thoughts on care provided in other areas of the hospital.
