Novice Investigator Group (NovIG)

Are you relatively new to the world of ICU research? Do you know anyone who is? Please let them know about the Novice Investigator Group (NovIG).

This group is a newly established endorsed working group of the ANZICS Clinical Trials Group that aims to:

  1. Provide a peer support network for ICU novice investigators from all clinical backgrounds.
  2. Provide a forum for discussion of issues affecting ICU novice investigators.
  3. Advocate on issues affecting ICU novice investigators.
  4. Facilitate collaborative research.

Membership of the Novice Investigator Group (NovIG) is now open for applications here:

Membership is open to those of all professional backgrounds:

  1. Currently working within or associated with intensive care units of private or public hospitals within Australia and New Zealand, this includes those with university appointments or students actively engaged or seeking to be engaged in ICU related research activities.
  2. Do not hold an academic title higher than senior lecturer
  3. Either have not completed a PhD, or completed a PhD less than 5 years earlier.

There is provision for individuals who do not meet these criteria to be admitted as members of NovIG at the discretion of the NovIG committee, either by invitation or on application. If you don’t meet the above criteria but still want to be involved, we very much encourage you to detail your reasons on the application form.

Membership is free.

Elections for the inaugural NovIG executive committee will be held electronically during the week of the 29 April 2019. All members are encouraged to nominate for a position. Nominations will open on 9 April 2019 and close on 25 April.
